Given my financial situation, should i choose an investment advisory service? Why or why not?

An investment advisory service may be a good fit if you want a professionally managed portfolio and prefer a structured approach thataligns investments to your goals, time horizon, and comfort with risk. Mary & Pip is designed for clients who want discretionary portfolio management delivered through an online platform, using ETF-based portfolios that are monitored and rebalanced over time.

Because our services are platform-driven, we may not be the right fit if you want one-on-one meetings, individualized advice delivered outside the platform, or an ongoing personal advisory relationship.

It is also important to consider costs relative to your account size. Some fees are charged on a fixed monthly basis, which can represent a larger percentage of smaller balances. If you have questions about whether the service is appropriate for you, you can submit them through the platform so we can help you understand how the service works and what it does and does not cover.

How will you choose investments to recommend to me?

  • We use the information you provide through the platform during onboarding to understand your goals, time horizon, and risk profile. Based on those inputs, the platform provides an ETF-based portfolio recommendation aligned to the profile and objectives you select. Our portfolios use a diversified, long-term approach, with target allocations across major asset classes such as U.S. equity, international equity, fixed income, and cash equivalents.

For certain strategies, we may use ETFs that provide exposure to digital assets or companies connected to the digital asset ecosystem, subject to concentration limits and additional risk disclosures that you must acknowledge through the platform before any allocation is made.

What is your relevant experience, including licenses, education and other qualifications? What does it all mean?

  • Mary & Pip provides investment advice through its online platform, and clients are not assigned a dedicated adviser for an ongoing one-on-one relationship. Information about our firm, services, and key personnel is provided in our disclosures. If you have questions about our qualifications, supervision, or how the service is delivered, you can submit them through the platform, and we will respond through the platform.

Help me understand how these fees and costs might affect my investments.

Fees and costs reduce returns over time, so it is important to understand what you pay and when you pay it. Mary & Pip charges a monthly platform subscription fee and an asset-based advisory fee that is billed monthly in arrears based on your average daily balance, including cash. In low-interest rate environments, fees charged on cash balances may exceed the return earned on cash or cash-equivalent holdings.

In addition to our fees, the ETFs in your portfolio have internal expenses (expense ratios) that are reflected in fund performance. Those fund expenses are separate from our fees and also reduce returns. Depending on your account activity, you may also incur certain custodial or administrative charges (for example, wires or IRA-related fees, if applicable).

If i give you $10,000 to invest, how much will go to fees and costs, and how much will be invested for me?

Your full $10,000 is invested in your account, but fees are deducted from your account over time. With a $10,000 balance, the monthly platform subscription fee applies, and the monthly advisory fee is calculated from the annual advisory fee rate based on your average daily balance for that month. At an annual advisory fee of 0.40%, the advisory portion is about $40 per year on $10,000, or about $3.33 per month, plus the $10 monthly platform subscription fee. That is approximately $13.33 for that month, assuming the balance stays around $10,000 for the month.

This example does not include ETF expense ratios (which are embedded in fund performance) or any custodial or administrative charges that may apply based on services used.
